Position Summary
The Strategy & Business Development team at LG Electronics' North American Innovation Center is an established, high-performing, and high-impact group responsible for helping shape the future direction of LG Electronics and LG NOVA. This team spearheads inorganic growth activities on behalf of the company. We are looking for our newest innovator to join in the role of Associate or Sr. Associate of Strategy & Business Development. This is a short-term contract position located in Santa Clara, CA.
As a contract Associate or Senior Associate of Strategy & Business Development at LG Electronics, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the company to achieve its growth objectives through inorganic strategies. Your responsibilities will include strategically promoting new businesses that align with and advance LGE's strategic directions, thereby contributing to position the organization as a preeminent leader in its industry. You will support efforts to identify, evaluate, and execute strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and investment opportunities that complement LGE's existing portfolio and drive long-term growth and profitability.
Core Responsibilities:
- Contribute to strategic planning by supporting the translation of company objectives into actionable initiatives and tactical plans
- Support growth strategy through the generation of business and market insights, development of business cases, and articulation of investment/partnership theses to explore new market opportunities for LG Electronics
- Assist in managing strategic opportunities by sourcing, evaluating, and managing a pipeline of opportunities in collaboration with team members in the U.S. and Korea
Strategy Development and Execution:
- Support the strategic agenda by identifying inorganic needs and opportunities, and contributing to planning and execution efforts
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of industry trends, market dynamics / assessments and competitive landscapes to develop strategic insights
- Leverage data-driven growth strategies to translate insights into informed recommendations for build, buy, or partner strategies, enabling effective market entry and expansion
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and key stakeholders across LGE U.S. and Korea to ensure alignment with business objectives and support strategic planning
- Spearhead Silicon Valley newsletter highlighting notable developments in Big Techs, AI, Metaverse, Robotics, Mobility, Digital Healthcare and Clean Tech segments
Corporate & Business Development:
- Help build presentation materials and support the preparation of recommendations to support various M&A, JV, investment, and partnership opportunities
- Support financial analysis / modeling, company screening / identifying relevant targets, financial modeling (3 Statement Model, DCF), valuation analysis (DCF, comps etc.), peer benchmarking
- Assist in coordinating cross-functional teams throughout the entire deal lifecycle including deal terms and contracts
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years relevant work with a proven history at a top-tier firm. At least 1-2 years working directly in management consulting, corporate or business strategy, business development and corporate development
- Critical thinking skills to break down complex issues, identify root causes, prioritize effectively, and proactively recommend solutions
- Strong critical thinking abilities to rapidly assimilate new concepts
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, a self-starting attitude, and the capacity to leverage resources effectively to drive successful outcomes without constant oversight
- Analytical competencies and knowledge of financial analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate key technical concepts, and ability to package complex ideas into logical, easy-to-follow progressions
- Outstanding interpersonal abilities to work seamlessly across functions and levels of seniority
- In-depth knowledge of consumer electronics and digital services industry
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA preferred
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, or Engineering
Please Note: this is a short-term contract position with LG, not a direct hire. We expect this person to work with us until around the end of 2025. There is a possibility this might be extended through 2026.
Location: this is a hybrid position located in Santa Clara, CA. The team works out of the Santa Clara office every Tuesday-Thursday.
Compensation: the compensation range to hire this short-term contractor is between $100k ($48/hour) and $114k ($55/hour). Pay will be determined based on experience level.
